WPSS at the FIFA U20 World Cup

WPSS director Hiroshi Miyazawa (Miya) has landed in Poland in his role as assistant NZ U20 football team coach ahead of this months FIFA U20 World Cup.

He is joined by WPSS graduates and now professional footballers Leon van den Hoven, Sarpreet Singh and Max Mata as preparations begin for the big event.

Impressed by his surroundings Miya told WPSS,

'The facility here in Gniewino is a world class sports complex that has got everything. This facility was the base camp of the Spanish National team for the Euro 2012 tournament when they were crowned champions.

We couldn't ask for better conditions to prepare in. Training pitches, indoor swimming pool, spa, gym, entertainment theatre  and accomodation are all 5 star facilities'.

Miya and the squad have a pre world cup training camp there for 2 weeks. The camp includes 2 practice games against Mexico on the 11th May and South Korea provided the first tune up on Saturday with the game ending 1 all.

Miya is proud to work with Leon, Sarpreet and Max again describing his feeling as, 'excited to work with boys who I have known since they were 8 years old and this time represent NZ together in a FIFA World Cup'.

Good luck from the WPSS family Miya!
